I just got this idea after reading that delightful filk (A maze with
keys) that was sent in. in SS/PS, when the trio are going through the
various chambers and end up at Snape's chamber, I was wondering why
Snape just didn't lie during that little poem of his. It was really
easy too. I'm certain that if I had the bottles infront of me I could
figure it out. But IMO Snape could've lied about which was the right
potion, though he and Dumbledore would know.

Well, traditionally those sort of challenges are beatable. They're
supposed to be difficult, but not impossible, so in case someone is
sent to recover it (should something had happened to the teachers), it
CAN be recovered.

It's the same problem of a door: there is no such thing as an
umpassable door, because it is SUPPOSED to allow entry. The safest
place in the world isn't of much help if, once you've put something in,
there is no way to get it out.
