I think there's trouble brewing where Hagrid is concerned. His
loyalty to Dumbledore is so unquestionable that I worry about it. I
can't tell you why, exactly, but perhaps the fact that Hagrid never
questions Dumbledore, but constantly says "Great wizard" about him
makes me wonder who else Hagrid would follow so blindly. This is not
a criticism of Dumbledore, mind you, because Dumbledore *is* a great
wizard, but there are times when I'd have questions.

I just don't trust Hagrid. He means well, but he has a big mouth
(letting Flamel's name slip in SS and yelling about Sirius in PoA are
two examples I can think of) and a weakness for creatures who *are*
dangerous and who are not well cared for by him (the Blast-Ended
Skrewts come to mind). I believe that Hagrid easily loses his grip on
reality when it comes to things he holds dear. He also lets his
emotions get the best of him at times when he needs to hold it
together; I really hated it when he leaned on the Trio so heavily when
he was having his Buckbeak fiasco. I found it inappropriate.

I'd like to see what happens when he comes back from his journey to
the giants. I'm kind of wondering if maybe the giants aren't such bad
guys after all. If they embrace Hagrid, will he shift his loyalties
to them? What if, for example, giants are really quite peaceful and,
after meeting up with his mom, Hagrid is suddenly convinced to go into
hiding with them in the mountains? There are other scenarios I can
picture as well, and none of them are good for Good.
