Hello all! While waiting (not so patiently) for HP V (please, oh
please, oh please don't let the delayed again rumors be true!), I
decided to read the Narnia Chronicles. I read The Lion, the Witch and
the Wardrobe as a child, but for some reason didn't read theothers, so
I decided that I would do so now, and came across a couple of
interesting things. So far, I've only finished the Magician's Nephew
(book 1 or 6 in that series, depending on which camp you decide to
take up with on that debate) and part way through L,W,W (book 2 or 1
of the series, again, depending on your camp). Trust me the HP
shippers-anti/non shippers have got nothing on the 'what order should
the books be read in?' people in reference to the Narnia Chronicles!
Anyway, in the MN, the main male character is named Digory (with only
1 'g' and it's his first name), and of course we all remember Cedric
Diggory in HP (moment of silence). In L,W,W, the children's last name
is Pevensie. Why did this catch my eye? Well, if you move the 'n'
and 's' back 2 and 3 spaces (repsectively) and the 'v' forward 2
spaces (after you've moved the other two into place-confused yet?),
you get the word Pensieve! Yes, yes, I know it's been discussed
before that Pensieve is most likey a combination of Pensive and
Seive, but it struck me as odd that a word so similar could be in both
books. I know from chats that JKR is a big fan of the Narnia books.
Has anyone else noticed this in other fantasy books? I'm wondering if
there will be other words as I progress inthe Narnia books that will
catch my eye too. Hmmmm...I either a) am very observant b)am way too
obsessed with HP and look for it everywhere c) just a bit to left of
sane or d) have waaaaaay too much time on my hands. I'd vote for b, c
and d.
Anyone have any thoughts on this (not on my being crazy-on the words)?
Cheers!
Slon
