Somehow, I don't think so.  I suspect that he's one of those poor, crabby,
old geezers who hate to be bothered and who can pull a fast one on you if
he can (Evidence for the poorness and the 'fast one' bit I got from Percy
in GoF, the whole 'tent' thing).  But he's probably on Dumbledore's side,
not LV's.

I have a feeling it's just supposed to look that way.  Everybody loves an
underdog, after all.  I've never doubted that LV is going to lose/die by
book 7.  The only question, really, is 'how'.
