Can't he use (a fraction of) the gold his parents left him, suitably
exchanged for muggle-money??

Please excuse me if this is a stupid question, but I've only seen the
movie (albeit twice) and have only just started reading the 2nd book.

AFAIK 13 years old, but only for 2 hours a day Mo-Fr and 4 or 5 at the
weekend. 

BTW: Some mobile phone shops here have recently started employing
these young teenagers in order to increase the percentage of mobile
phones amongst teenagers ...
