Forgive me if I'm already repeating speculation, but I think we're
overlooking a HUGE fact here...
Dumbledore taught transfiguration. Hence he must be an Animagus.
Hedwig is the only thing that Harry doesn't buy for himself, that
first time in Diagon Alley when he gets his school supplies.
We never see Dumbledore and Hedwig in the same place, ever.
Sorry for pulling a Clark Kent/Superman thing, but doesn't anyone
else think that wise old Dumbledore, with his "snowy white" beard and
huge blue eyes, could be Hedwig? It makes a lot of sense and would
create some neat possibilities for Sirius and Dumbledore plots in the
future...
Also, Hermione tells Harry that there are only a few (I think it's
7?) registered Animagi from this century... I think figuring out who
they are could be a big help for deciphering future books...
So far it goes:
Sirius Black (padfoot)
Rita Skeeter (the beetle)
Professor McGonagall (the cat)
James Potter (the stag)
Peter Pettigrew (wormtail)
That leaves two more. One is Professor Lupin, but the question is,
do warewolves count as transfiguration? Also, is Professor Lupin's
brother Remus a warewolf too?
Ok, so assuming Professor Lupin WAS an animagus, there's one more
registered animal still kicking... I think it must be Dumbledore.
One more thing: If Padfoot and Wormtail and James Potter and
Professor Lupin were all friends at Hogwarts when they made the map
used in Prisoner of Azkaban, they already knew that they were animagi
as young adults. When will Harry's gang find out if they can be
animagi, or have they already and not told anyone?
Ok, enough. Sorry if this post is so long. Get back to me if
anything's good.
