Excellent question, Aja!  

It may be that those times were just too scary to be talked about 
much.  Hagrid says that you didn't dare trust strange witches or 
wizards and Sirius tells the Trio that you didn't know who to trust 
(truthfully, as it turned out). 

I know people who were in WWII and Viet Nam who just didn't talk 
about what happened. Brought back too many painful memories.    

We may see those times talked about now that Mouldy Voldy is in human 
form again.
