Here's my two sickles; count me in! I think it takes away quite a
bit of poignance from the Trio to make Harry a pureblood. As it
stands, HHR are an example of a pureblood, a Muggle-born, and a
halfblood, all working together quite well, and as such an example
for the rest of the student about the unimportance of blood-purity.
It subtracts from the disturbing resemblances between Riddle and
Harry to take away the "both half-bloods" similarity.
It makes James and Lily a bit less romantic and tragic if they're
both purebloods - I've always assumed that James got a cartain
ammount of flack for "diluting the bloodline" when he married Lily,
driving the young lovers even closer together in the face of a
hostile world.
And, last, I don't think Vernon would have ever married Petunia if
not only her black-sheep sister but her whole family were that
abnormal. :)
