I've been trying to think about Ron and what his role is going to be in
the over all pictures of the story.

Right now it seems to me that his powers haven't really been explored.
We know that he's a good strategist, but that's about it. Out of Harry,
Hermione, and Ron, it seems that Hermione is actually the most powerful
right now. She catches on so quickly, and is very good with logic.
Harry, we are told, is very powerful, but I don't think his powerful
have really developed. He's powerful when he gets mad (like the closet
door flying open after blowing up Aunt Marge), but he seems to be more
courageous right now. We've hardly seen anything regarding Ron's powers,
and I'm wondering whether he just hasn't come into his own, or if he's
just not that powerful. He is a good strategist, but that's more mental
than magical. If this were true, though, why would Ron have a 14 inch
wand?

A lot of people speculate that the length of the wand might have
something to do with your powers, and possibly how strong. Now...Harry's
is only 11 inches. V's is 13.5
inches, and Hagrid's is 16 inches. Now Ron's is the second longest wand
there is at 14 inches. So does this mean that's going to be powerful
himself? But then why would Harry's only be 11 inches? Also...Ron's wand
is made of willow...nice and wispy, good for charm work. So I wander if
there was a bit of forshadowing in that. Lily had a willow wand and was
good at charm work, though we don't know the core of her wand.

I also wonder if Ron is ultimately going to sacrifice himself in the end
to help defeat V. He already sacrificed himself once in SS/PS. Could
this also come back into play? He's also been used as bait (twice! PoA,
and GoF), so is V going to kidnap Ron, and use Ron to lure in Harry? I'm
beginning to get very worried about Ron's fate, after seeing all these
signs. Especially after Firenze's statement that the most innocent are
the first to die. Ron has a unicorn hair in his wand.

Anyway...I would like to see the magic aspect developed a bit more with
Ron and Harry, by the end of the series.
