Maybe the wand's length has to do with how tall you are or something. 
Hagrid's half giant, so his wand would be the biggest.  Ron is tall, 
so his is pretty long too. Harry is short, so his is smaller. (I am 
trying to ignore multiple meanings in this conversation.) This logic 
is kind of obvious ... but it fits, and you never know.

That's a very good point, after that bit in the first book about 
killing a unicorn, the most pure or whatever ... I forget the exact 
quote.
While we're on the topic of wands ... does it say anywhere what 
Hermione's wand is made out of?  Just wondering. :)
