Harry has no bigger fan than Dobby, whose death could resonate on so 
many levels.

To cite just one possibility - since Dobby names Harry as THE hope for 
the downtrodden like himself, it would be most ironic if Dobby is to 
save the savior...and if he should do so in noble self-sacrifice, all 
the more poignant.

Speaking of irony, as Harry and his comrades worry about the safety of 
mudbloods in GoF, our favorite mudblood Hermione seethes over the 
mistreatment of house elves while, to complete the circle, Dobby frets 
over Harry's welfare.

The possibilities for ironic and selfless sacrifices (rather like 
those in The Gift of the Magi) on the part of those who make up this 
chain are endless.
