What were Ron and Hermione arguing about after the Yule Ball?

Having just finished GoF again, the part after the yule ball stuck in
my mind. Harry walked in on Hermione shouting and I quote

"'Well, if you don't like it, you know what the solution is, don't
you' yelled Hermione ...
'Oh yeah?' Ron bellowed back. 'Whats that?'
Next time there's a ball, ask me before someone else does, and not as
a last resort!'...
'Well' he spluttered ... 'well - that just proves - completely missed
the point -'...
but he [Harry] somehow thorght that Hermione had got the point much
better than Ron had."

What had Ron said just before to provoke this answer. Had he told her
his feelings for her? What questions could provoke this type of
response? What was the 'point' that Ron didn't get but Hermione and
Harry did? Could this be that Ron is really after Hermione.
JKR always said that the H/R relatinship answer was in book 4. Could
this be it?
