Hi --

Based on the messages of this past week, just a few reminders about List
Rules:

1. Do not post one-liners. This of course means no "me too" posts, but
it also means that you shouldn't post something that just says "I think
XXXXX." Tell us *why* you think XXXX. Just posting "I think XXX"
doesn't really add much to the discussion.

2. Do not ask that people "shut up" about specific topics. It's rude &
unnecessary. If there's a topic or thread that you find disinteresting
or ridiculous but others seem to be enjoying it, just skip the posts
and/or start a new thread of conversation. There's no need to rain on
someone else's parade. There are well over 3000 people on this list, so
you can't expect that you'll be interested in *everything* that others
want to discuss.

3. Please keep your subject headings relevant. Make it a habit to
always check your subject heading before hitting send.

4. Snip off extraneous quoted material, particularly from the bottom of
your message if you are replying to a message.

Incidentally, it is the most reader-friendly format to include a brief
section of quoted material or summary of someone else's thoughts (with
it clearly marked who said what), adding your own thoughts (with white
space in between) *after* the quoted material or summary.

Thanks! Be sure to email the moderators or your List Elf off-list if
you have any questions about list rules or policy.
