[snip]how does Mr. Ollivander
know that both Harry and L.V.'s wands are brothers. I know that in
CoS Dumbledore and Harry talk about what happened to him in the
Chamber w/ Tom Riddle, and Dumbledore does state, "Very few people
know that LV was once called TR"

and, Michelle says:

In the real world, as a person grows older, their interests,
and sometimes even their strengths and weaknesses change. Growing out of a
wand could simply be an illustration of this.

Melissa responds:

I guess that I always assumed (yes, I know...never assume <smile>) that
Voldy bought the wand as an adult, after he had transformed himself. I
guess that I tend to agree with Michelle on this point (even though it
wasn't directly related to this thread, it still applies, as far as I'm
concerned). It's hard for me to believe that the wand Tom Riddle bought as
an 11 year old would be the wand he used as Voldemort. To me, it would
logically follow that V had outgrown the wand he had originally purchased,
and therefore would provide Ollivander with the knowledge that the wand V
bought, as an adult, was brother to Harry's wand.

Okay, now that I've responded, I'll say hi. I was really glad to find this
list, as I had only seen lists that seemed to cater to younger members, and
kidspeak. I've been enjoying reading everyone's posts, and as someone so
recently has mentioned, I'm also glad to know that this will be returned if
I'm not making any sense at all <g>

Thanks Carol for pointing me to this list!!

Melissa
