Having contributed to the coffers of various english-printing publishing
houses, not to mention a number of non-english houses, I have several
questions:
Aside from the dumbing down of PS to SS because us Americans wouldn't be able
to comprehend the concept of a philospher's stone - let us add classic
education, then - and the need to make specific editorial corrections to
typos, illogic and mistakes, what explanation is offered to explain (as in
GoF) murder vs curse vs obstacle, etc. (and that is a long sentence)
I know there is a site that collects anomalies in the text, but has anyone
taken a stab at explicating them. If not, perhaps the questions might be put
to JKR.
There are many beloved stories that are slowly modified in text as new
printings or editions come out. Usually this might happen over 50 or 100
years, not a decade.
I thought I was up on things by having one set of HP from each of the major
English-speaking nations (US, Uk, AU, Canada), but I may draw the line at
dealing with acquisition of minor textual variations.- I already do that in
another aspect of my gentle madness.
Is there perhaps a need for an author's guide to HP to chronicle and explain
these changes. By the time #7 has run its course, there certainly should be
more than enough discrepancies to report.
