I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but the symbol next to
Seamus' name has a squiggly line over the circle like it's been
crossed out. This and the fact that both Crabbe and Goyle have
circles with stars in it left me with the conclusion that the stars
stood for half-blood and the circled stars stood for pure-blood. It
appears to me that JKR originally had Seamus as a pure-blood and then
changed her mind for whatever reason, just as it appears as if Tracey
Doris was originally a muggle born but has been changed to a half-
blood (perhaps something to do with one of her parents?)
I have no idea as to what the first lot of symbols means though.
