Remember that Hermonie is in the bathroom crying
because she heard the mean things that Ron was saying
about her.  It could be argued that it was because of
what Ron said that she was in the bathroom and not at
the feast when the Troll attacked causing H & R to go
looking for her when they should have been headed back
to G Tower.  IIRC H & R had already been in some sort
of trouble, I need to go and look this up to be sure,
but I am sure that if I am incorrect in this someone
will be sure to correct me.  Hermonie then decided
that she would say that it is her fault that H & R
were not obeying orders to get back to the house
common room.  She did lie to the Professor and that
was a huge deal for her to do.
