Actually, there is a fic about that very subject - it's by Shanna Seanachai, and although I forget the title, she's on ffn under that handle, so just search for her and look at the
summaries. It hasn't gotten very far as of yet, but what's there is promising for some good development. I will warn you, however, that it's also slash (i.e. male/male romance).
