I think we may be obsessing a bit much over this, but if Amy Z can go 
gaga over the thought of Sirius Black's "tanned muscular legs",  we 
ought to address the issue at least.  I think that there must be 
something more under the robes than socks.  After all, did Hermione 
ride Buckbeak sidesaddle?
