To defeat Voldemort it may be necessary to call on the
various
strengths exemplified by each the Houses ,and guard
against the
weaknesses that come from those strengths.

I think that, that is the most plausible idea ever
presented on this list LOL. Or atleast as long as I
have been on this list. It makes sense, why have 4
houses each with unique strenghts if they aren't going
to be important at one point? For example, the
Hufflepuffs and their loyalty seems like very good and
non-threatening people. However, loyalty can be a
very bad trait if you are loyal to the wrong people.
Gryfindors bravery is generally looked upon as a good
thing, but sometimes brave people can be stupid and
take unneccessary and dangerous risks. Some of the
most brave people I know are the ones that stand on
the sidelines of things and never truly get
recognition for thier actions, but they aren't afraid
to stand up for what they believe in. For example,
Hermione's stance on the whole S.P.E.W issue, it may
seem like a silly little plot line on the side but I
thin that by speaking up against all the people that
she did on that particular issue shows an element of
bravery in Hermione. I see Ravenclaws attributes to
actually end up being the most important if this would
actually end up being the case and all the houses
would have to work together. The reason I say this is
because they are practical and logical and
intelligence. I can't see Ravenclaws really getting
into the heat of things and loosing site of their
initial purpose. Hermione said so herself one thing
that wizards lack often is logic. However, I'm not
sure if Ravenclaws are really suppossed to be that
logical, I Just would venture to say that they most
likely are because most bookworn type people I know
are very logical. However, even they have a tragic
flaw, there is such a thing as analyzing something to
death and that might very well be the flaw of the
Ravenclaws. Slytherins have been given a lot of bad
reps, I think this is mainly because we see power
hungry people as being bad. I think that sometimes
ambition and the desire for power can be good
attributes for a person to have, we need people like
this they are what we call leaders. I truly believe
that at the heart, slytherins have the power to be
good leaders. I mean if you want to go their
Voldemort is a very good leader in the sense that he
can get people to follow him, however, his cause is
obviously not a good one. Slytherins seem to me like
they would be the type of people that would not be
taken advantage of, where as for example Hufflepuffs
will be. I think that they know whawt they want and
know how they are going acheive it. Not all
slytherins are bad I'm sure, I think that is a horrid
misconception that Harry holds. If Salzaar Slytherin
was really this awful person why would the other
founders have cooperated with him to begin with.
REally the Gryffindor oppinion of Slytherin is just as
biggotted as the Slytherin oppinion of muggles. It
stems from blaming the whole group for the actions of
a few isolated individuals. I Think that unless these
houses, and possibly even the other schools, can learn
to work together they will never be able to truly
eliminate evil. For Voldemort to be defeated they all
must put past differences aside and work together for
the common good. Okay that was a bit of a rant but oh
well it's something I feel strongly about so I guess
it's okay for me to over analyze it a bit.
Now, like I said before true bravery is the ability to
stand up for what you believe in; what you believe is
right. It doesn't mean that you never act cowardly,
or make mistakes. This is why I am now entering a new
theory does anyone think it is possible that Peter
Petigrew might turn away from Voldemort. While I
believe that it is impossible to ever redeem him for
what he did to Lily and James, but it seems to me if
the sorting hat put him in Gryffindor it obviously
didn't see him as this cowardly, insignifcant person.
This is why I see possibly redeeming himself in the
end. Helping defeat Voldy and then being imprisoned,
a brave person would accept the consequences of his
actions. I think that we are forgetting a lot of
little details about Peter when we throw him off as
this cowardly, unskilled wizard. He is obviously
skilled to some degree, he is anigmus, which to my
understanding is a very dangerous and advanced
wizardry skill. What does everyone else think about
this?
Well, if you are still reading this then I must have
achieved my goal at writing a post that would generate
enough interest that people would wish to read it.
Thankyou for your time and have a great day!
Melanie, who according to the sorting hat at the
official site is a ravenclaw.
