Indigo observed (in response to my post about whether Voldemort would have
killed Lily)

>That he regards *both* of [the Lestranges] as loyal to him [and in some
cases more loyal
>than the Death Eaters who apparated into the circle] is an indication
>that he has grown at least partially out of his 16 year old gender
>arrogance.

Not necessarily, because being devoted (to one's husband, one's husband's
career and one's husband's "Cause") without thinking of oneself is one thing
that most sexist men do think is laudable in a woman, and therefore is
likely to be publically applauded by them.

However, my point was that although Voldemort is indeed somewhat sexist, he
is neither sexist enough nor stupid enough to let Lily go once he'd killed
James and Harry because he would be putting himself in grave danger having
created an enemy with nothing to lose and the most powerful motive for
revenge going, something Machiavelli points out is something no prince can
adequately defend himself against. I don't think he would have taken the
risk. So I agree with you that he probably isn't a total sexist, but
disagree about whether he would have let Lily live. I certainly can't find
any canonical evidence for a "skewed sense of honour" towards wizards.
