Right. The definitions are:
Pure-blood: Born of a witch-wizard couple (regardless of how "pure"
their blood is)
Half-Muggle: Born of one magical parent and one Muggle parent; in
canon these always seem to be magical children, too (we haven't heard
about a student who is half-Muggle who has a non-magical sibling)
Muggle-born (bad language: Mudblood): Born of two Muggles. This
magical ability seems to pop up regularly like a recessive gene or
something.
Squib: Non-magical or nearly non-magical person born of magical
parents. (Perhaps more likely if only one parent is magical; see
Half-Muggle, above. Perhaps Filch has a Muggle parent?)
Anyway, Squibs in the magical world seem to be roughly the flip side
of Muggle-borns in the Muggle world. I hope we learn more about
Squibs, other than what sort of shady owl-post lessons are available
for them to (supposedly) improve their magical performance.
