I have to step forward to save Melanie, especially because you don't
like what I said, to say that I said that.

I'm not joking at all, but I completely agree with what you said about
his faithfulness. He adores both Dumbledore and Harry and has proven
to be a loyal and good friend. It's hard for me to explain this
feeling I'm getting about Hagrid. Let me try.

I believe, as many here do, that Hagrid is going on a quest for
Dumbledore to make allies of the giants. I am pretty sure that he
will meet up with his mother in the process. I have an image of
Hagrid spending time with the giants and coming back to Hogwarts
questioning where he really belongs, which could put him in some very
awkward situations, given the unfortunate reputation the giants have
in the wizarding world (BTW, is anyone else reminded of the giants in
"The Silver Chair" when reading JKR's description of the giants in
GoF?).

I'm not saying Hagrid will turn to the Dark Side, because I do not see
that happening, but given his occasionally careless history, I wonder
if he'll make some decisions (even if temporary) that might cause some
trouble for others. His temper may get the best of him when it
shouldn't, or he may be asked by the giants to do things that are easy
but maybe not right.

I may be the only person here who is not wild and crazy about Hagrid,
so I am choosing my words very carefully. I hope I explained myself.
