Before anyone comes down on me like a ton of bricks, I'm immediately
apologising for the "me too" but I so agree with Jenny's comments
about Sirius. It would be too cruel to Harry. I don't think there
is another adult in the series who can offer Harry everything Sirius
does. I felt so sorry for Harry when Sirius had to leave at the end
of both PoA and GoF - and in the latter, Mrs Weasley was also there
to comfort him. I know many on this list think that it is good for
Harry to be an honourary member of OBHWF, and I agree - Molly and
Arthur Weasley have taken him under their wings, and he is equally
accepted by the rest of the family, but none of this compensates for
Harry being deprived of Sirius, who, in a parental way, can give
Harry his undivided attention without having to spread it over
several other children. IMO, Harry needs, and deserves this, and
Sirius wants to, and fully intends to give Harry this support. I did
consider some of the other adults in the books - Dumbledore seems to
be grooming Harry for something (probably the final confrontation
with Voldemort) but has too much else to concern himself with.
Hagrid is wonderful, but more of a friend than a parental figure, and
Harry is almost paternal in his relationship with Hagrid, not the
other way round. Apart from Remus Lupin who is currently out of the
picture, no one else will do. So I like Jenny, think that it would
be incredibly cruel if Harry were to be deprived of Sirius.
