It was cruel and deliberate. You don't just send someone in to meet
a werewolf without expecting some serious injury or death to that
person. Even a 16 year old should know that. If they don't then
Hogwarts isn't the place for them.
Maybe Sirius knows something about Snape that we don't and figured
Snape would be able to handle the situation. Yet Snape feels he was
put in a position were he could have been killed and evidently so did
James Potter and Dumbledore.

At this point Snape still thinks Sirius is guilty. Still, it would
be extreme to turn Sirius and Lupin over to the Dementors. However,
Snape didn't do what he threatened to even when he had the chance.
There is so much more to the whole Snape/Sirius hate. We don't know
all there is. I'm not one who believes that all of this is the doing
of only Snape. Snape must have done something so it's fine for
Sirius to send him to a meeting with a werewolf? Goodness knows
Snape was probably a little on the nosey side but since when is that
a death sentence? Ah, but I forgot. Sirius is the good looking guy
so that means we are suppose to forget or ignore all the things that
Sirius does that is not very nice.
I look forward to finding out what the real problem is between these
two.

Why would it be so easy to take precautions against him/her? Unless
you are going to lock him/her up every time there is a full moon.
It's obvious you can't just leave it up to the werewolf. Lupin,
James, Sirius, and Peter put other peoples lives in danger while at
Hogwarts. Dumbledore thought he had taken the necessary precautions
at that time and obviously it wasn't enough. Lupin was still roaming
around and was not where he was suppose to be (with the help of his
good buddies). Again, while teaching at Hogwarts, Lupin puts others
in danger by forgetting to take the potion that dear Snape made for
him. Regardless of * why* Lupin forgot to do that, he put other
peoples lives in danger. I'm sure Dumbledore thought all was under
control but again it didn't work 100%. There's no margin for error in
dealing with werewolves.

No!
Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them
Werewolves XXXXX (rating is described as 'known wizard
killer /impossible to train or domesticate'
Werewolf:
Once a month, at the full moon, the otherwise sane and normal wizard
or Muggle afflicted transforms into a murderous beast. Almost
uniquely among fantastic creatures, the werewolf actively seeks
humans in preference to any other kind of prey.
***************************************************************
How is it a form of prejudice for parents or anyone else to be
concerned about a beast that is murderous and that actively seeks
humans? It is not prejudice nor is it bigotry to have legitimate
concerns about AIDS (or werewolves).
[C: how is he feeling now, returning to a life where
> no one is willing to hire him? Where no one will trust him?
> Does he have a family? Friends who can help?]
My heart goes out to Lupin. He is a fine man and I just adore him.
I would like to think there are friends and family members who are
there for him. However, as nice as he is, he still can turn into a
murdeous beast at times.
[Q: What was
> the first?!?!?!?]
I snipped off more than I wanted. In regard to the first prediction,
I believe it was that Lily and James were the only ones who could
produce a child that could save the wizard world. That was when Lily
had to leave Snape (her true love) and marry James. (This is the
only way I'll accept the Snape/Lily thing). <G>
Seriously, wish I knew what the first prediction was!
