HP as children's book - scary stuff

I didn't actually introduce the HP books in this case, but I was 
talking with a girl I baby-sit, who's about 8 now, so she would have 
been 7 I think when this conversation occured, and her parents 
wouldn't let her finish the first book because it was too scary.  She 
told me she wasn't scared and wanted to finish it, but they thought 
she would have nightmares.  I thought it was a bit silly for someone 
her age to be scared, but then I was a tough little kid.  She's an 
only child with older parents, and they tend to keep her very 
sheltered.

So, anyway, that's my post and I'm sticking to it.
