But if this is the case, then Snape's cover would have blown the
first time. The fact that he survived proves that Voldemort doesn't
detect all falsehood. I guess it was just a classic Evil Overlord
symptom.
Also so far, Voldemort has had exactly *one* chance to detect lies --
in SS/PS with Harry. And Harry is not exactly an expert liar.
Now wondering whether Snape has the ability to detect lies ...
