No.  If Snape had already established his bona fides, he would have 
not needed to lie.  It was only after he started working for 
Dumbledore that things got dangerous.  As long has he could 
truthfully answer all questions put to him by Voldemort, he was 
safe.  If Voldemort had turned to him and asked, "Are you loyal to 
me?", he would have been a dead duck.  

Now, don't you think Snape would be asked that question if he 
attempted to return?

What about the muggle in chapter one of HP4?  What about Wormtail in 
the same chapter?
