This is a good one. But (gets out nitpicking tools): Ron knows Peter
Pettigrew's story, though--they probably all knew it growing up the
same way they knew about Harry. The day after Ron, Harry, and
Hermione hear the story in the 3 Broomsticks, Ron says something like
"you know what Peter Pettigrew's mother got back? My dad told me.
His finger in a box," etc. So from that perspective, it's unlikely
that they'd skim right over the name.
OTOH, it is possible that Arthur and Molly never talked about Peter
until it was in the news that summer and the kids wanted to know more
about this Sirius Black guy. Or that the kids did hear the name Peter
Pettigrew growing up, but not so they'd remember it when they saw it
on the Map years later.
