I'm reminded of one of Walt Kelly's Pogo strips from the McCarthy 
era: Albert the Alligator is on trial for murder, but is shown ro be 
innocent when his alleged victim shows up alive.  The jury still 
wants to convict him. "How can Albert be guilty if no crime is been 
done?" asks Porky (serving as the Defense) "How about one of them 
others? We isn't fussy!" voices one of the jurors.
