I have always held the belief that if the Dementors ever came across
Voldemort that they would be under orders to administer the Kiss to
him. Dumbledore told Harry that, through his scar, Harry has a bit
of Voldemort in him. During this scene, I believe the Dememtors
sensed Voldmort above Sirius and therefore administered it to Harry.
I have had two or three people on my back about this stating simply
that Harry was the closest person to the Dementors and that they were
hungry. One said it was the same reason why the Dementors came to
Harry's Quidditch game. It is my contention that the Dementors went
to the Quidditch game because they sensed Sirius in the stands. And
as for the actual incident - I believe I have another situation to
make the situation a little better understood. My uncle once asked a
police officer why he was never stopped for speeding while going 70
mph on a 65 mph road. The officer's explaination was this: If you
find a five dollar bill, a twenty dollar bill, and a fifty dollar
bill all laying in the street - And could only pick up one - which
one would you choose? Obviously the $50 bill. Now, because Harry
has some of Voldemort in him the standings would work out to be this:
Hermione - $5 / Sirius - $20 / Harry - $50. This would explain the
reasoning behind the Dememtors moving towards Harry. I hope this
reply wasn't too discursive - it makes sense in my head right now - I
hope it does in everybody elses' too !!
