character. Basically, because she also said that it was most likely to
later for Petunia and Vernon. I think it would make the plot line
much more interesting if it turned out to be Dudley. There own
precious son, a wizard. That would be enough to make Vernon and
Petunia cringe. I could see a bit of wizard in Dudley, I mean I think
that there is something more to him then just the fat, spoiled cousin.

People have brought up that idea before, and it just doesn't sit well
with me for several reasons: "Later in life" to me implies adult age,
not a 15 year old, which is what Dudley will be in OoP. Next, I know
JKR said in an online chat (sorry Amanda, I just don't remember which
one) that Harry has not *yet* used magic on Dudley. To me that
implies that Harry will be the only one of the two using magic. I
also feel that it would be, well, a bit stupid if Dudley suddenly
develops magical abilities. JKR would have to do a really good job
there for me to be comfortable with that. Hasn't Harry suffered
enough at the hands of Dudley? I do not want to see Dudley rival
Harry any more than he has. Even if becoming magic would mean a major
rebellion against mom and dad for Dudley... it just doesn't sit well
with me.
I'm going on a lot of implications and not canon here, but I can't
shake the feeling that Petunia is a witch; I'm sure I'm not the only
one *gestures furiously at Magda who may be in agreement*.
