Amy asked, apropos of the 2 1/2 hour drive from Surrey to Kings Cross

The latter, I strongly suspect.   The average speed for car journeys in
London is 11 miles per hour - it was 12 miles p.h at the start of the 20th
century.  Surrey is South West of London and Kings Cross is North East of
the centre, so the drive  would hit some truly horrendous jam potential.
