Dear All--I do not believe that Snape is a vampire. But whatever he
did or does to help Dumbledore must be significant. He has either
always been a "spy" for Dumbledore or he has saved D's life or
something of that magnitude (perhaps he is a relative of Dumbledore--
a nephew, etc?!). Lupin obviously does have respect for Snape
because he tells Harry that he is fortunate to have someone of
Snape's abilty to mix that very difficult potion for him. But, poor
Snape just seems to lend hmself to jibes--even Dumbledore wears
the "grandmother hat" at the Halloween dinner (much to Snape's
disgust, I am sure). The problem with this ceaseless "teasing" is
that (as we so tragically find out in our Muggle world) the subjects
tend to "fight back" in tragic ways (for everyone). I hope that
Snape is not pushed too far and that he has the internal wherewithal
to resist the type of "revenge" and "jealousy" that inspired Peter
Pettigrew to betray the Potters. Opal Dragonfly
