Alright, I'm actually going to talk. *smiles* Here is my reason for
starting to read. Two years ago, I started working at my Uncle's bookstore.
(I have to explain, its was started by my Grandmother and passed down to
my Uncle, who lives in Atlanta, and runs the two stores in Jacksonville and
the one in Celebration...I just don't see why he runs them, and lives in
another state! *sighs* oh well..Can you tell I don't like him much?)
Anyway...I started working there while I was a junior in High school.
White's (my Grandmother's maiden name) sells books, cards, and gifts. When
people would ask me about certain books and what I suggest, I would tell
them to see the other person that worked there cause I didn't like to read.
The customers were like "And YOU work in a bookstore?!"
Then one day the manager (who happens to be good friends with my family) was
talking to a little boy who had said he hated to read. She gave him the
book and said to him and his mother that if he didn't like the book for him
to come tell her. She said that she guarantees that he will like it. From
then on, everyone that came in the store asked if we had those books. I was
like "What is with these Harry Potter books?!?!" I figured, hey, if kids
can read them, I would just to see what they were about. Go figure, 2 years
later I would be *obsessed* with those books and whining cause the next one
to come out is rumored not to be released until 2003. *growls* Since I
found I actually ENJOY reading, I have been actually reading other stories
like the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan (if you like Harry Potter,
you *have* to read these books. I've only read the first one, but I cannot
wait to read the next), The Chronicles of Narnia, the Tolkein Series, A
Wrinkle in Time (all 4), classics like The Three Musketeers, and The Phantom
of the Opera. *grins* Harry Potter has opened up a new world for me.
