[nods] It's not unusual to have a few days of classes
after exams are over, for various reasons (exam
review, summer assignments, etc.). We actually still
had "classes" after all the A-level exams were over,
but that was really just an excuse to return our books
and go over the exams in excrutiating detail whilst
giving each other oxygen. ;)

Late July? Hrm. We finished at the end of June. As
you said, depends on the school. :) Mind if I ask
where you were at?
