This week's contest comes from Gwendolyn Grace;
[lee_hillman at urmc.rochester.edu], who wants to convert a Renaissance
Festival into Hogsmeade and/or Diagon Alley for a weekend. The
contest is to come up with interesting, inventive ideas for Harry
Potter events such as these not just Renaissance Festival-type
affairs but also parties, street fairs, etc.
There has been a fair (no pun intended) amount of discussion on this
in the past, plus IIRC some websites with lists of HP-related party
ideas, but I would like to stretch the imagination of the inventive,
creative people on this list to come up with more interesting ideas.
There are lots of obvious things you can do dressing up in pointy
hats, having the food stands labeled "Three Broomsticks," serving
pumpkin juice and spotted dick (it is very ethnocentric of me, I
know, but I could NEVER eat anything called spotted dick it sounds
diseased), having people dressed as ghosts and hags and werewolves
wandering around, having phony Quidditch games, etc. Can you come up
with anything even more creative?
Please respond by email to HP4GUCon at aol.com by midnight EST on
Thursday, July 26. Do NOT post your response to the list. Thanks.
(Note change in contest days -- from now on, the contest submission
deadline will be midnight Thursday, and both the contest results and
the new contest will be posted on Fridays, and yes I know today is
Sunday, but I had to do that just this week in order to throw my
enemies off track.)
