As Dumbledore tells Harry, the Mirror does not show things as they
are but rather what the looker wants to see.  Harry has always wanted
a family.  Ron has always wanted to outshine his brothers.  "Men have
wasted away in front of it or gone mad trying to decide if what they
saw was real" (close enough quote).

So I don't think the Mirror's images are proof of anything besides
Harry's longings.
