Mugblood vs. Mudblood?

B.K.:"Not only that but "Mug" is British slang for someone 
who "doesn't get it." How do we know Rowling didn't come up with 
Mugblood before "Muggle" ?"

Do the British editions use the word "Mugblood?" If they do, it makes 
more sense. The American editions use "Mudblood."  I wish I had the 
British editions.
