Right.  Exactly.  I'm not arguing at all that the women are being
singled out in not having defining relationships with women -- but that
*no one* has a defining relationship with a woman.  If the men were
defined in terms of relationships with women, the books then would have
much less of a gender bias.  But not for a single character is a
relationship with a woman important enough to be one of their defining
characteristics, which is clear gender bias, to my mind (and not all
that realistic).
