I had never heard the theory that Ginny might not have sent the
Valentine herself until this weekend's posts on the topic, but I like
it!  It makes sense to me.

I don't think the true identity of the sender qualifies as a major loose
thread.  It's not that important a detail after all.  It's important
only to reinforce the image that Ginny has this crush on Harry & he's
aware of it.  But, I definitely can't imagine Ginny even broaching the
subject with Ron.  Granted I don't have older brothers, but this would
seem way OOC for a shy kid sister to approach her next oldest brother &
tell him that she didn't send the Valentine.  She would have been so
incredibly embarassed that she'd rather die than bring up the subject
with any of her brothers.  Even if she did, I'd give 10-1 odds that Ron
wouldn't have believed her.  If she tried to talk to any of her brothers
& tell them she hadn't sent it, it would be Percy IMO.
