This has nothing to do with Amanda's Voldemort theory, but I
remembered something while reading her post. A while back there was
a debate over how Sirius could have bought the Firebolt for Harry
while being a wanted fugitive, and I don't think this was mentioned
Sending money to the shop with a note indicating who the recipient
should be would have been enough; the store wouldn't have needed to
know the name of the giver as long as they had the money. But how
was Sirius supposed to get the money out of his bank vault? If the
banks were run or overseen by the ministry, it would have been
impossible. But the bank was run by Goblins. They are most
definitely separate. And don't think they would have cared if the
person using their bank happened to be wanted by the Wizarding
Ministry of Magic. Do you think the Goblins have never fraternized
with people or beasts deemed dangerous by wizards? What about
political enemies? And of course, they've had their own problems
with the Ministry. I see them as a neutral third party. Why should
they care that the MoM is looking for him? Until Sirius crosses
them, they have no reason to deny him service or notify the Ministry.
I'm sure the note with Crookshanks was like the one Hagrid had for
Dumbledore in PS/SS. here has to be some way Gringotts makes sure
the money goes to the right person.
