I think he may have to kill, also.  Hasn't JKR said somewhere, 
sometime that one of the themes of the next few books is that people 
have to do what it right, even if that choice is difficult, rather 
than take the easy way out?  

I also can't help but wonder what the Marauders were doing in the 
fight against Voldemort once they were out of Hogwarts.  Somehow I 
can't see them all sitting at desks at the MOM reading and 
formulating theories.  I have absolutely no canon to fall back on 
here, but I will not be at all surprised if we find out that James, 
Lily, etal, had to take on some ugly tasks in the fight against evil. 
Harry may find himself in a similar situation.
