No, it doesn't -- that's only what they =thought= they were
hearing. They heard Macnair slamming his axe into the fence in
frustration, and Hagrid crying out in astonishment. But they
were psychologically prepared to hear the killing stroke and
Hagrid lamenting, so that's what they perceived.

They'd probably beat it before Macnair started cursing.
