No, that would be our beloved POA and GOF, <vbg>. But don't worry,
I'm starting POA tonight, so look for more ponderings in the future.
Don't we all love getting techincal?

But wouldn't that defeat the entire purpose of the Chamber of Secrets
altogether? Seems to me like Riddle wanted to do it the dramatic way
(ie, his "fun" way). Otherwise, why couldn't he make Ginny lock
herself in a closet and attack Harry when he's alone in the Gryffindor
tower? Same principle holds. Riddle has an ego problem. I see
Riddle as stealing Harry's simple to be malicious. He obviously
doesn't really use it (until the end, but I'm sure THAT wasn't
planned), he simply now wants to play games with Harry (Harry still
thinks Riddle is "Mr. Good Boy").

Yes, I understand that Riddle/Voldie is strangely unique in his
magical prowess, it just seems (in our other magical theory
discussions) that no wand AND no spell seem outrageously advanced for
a sixteen-year-old, no matter how powerful. That's just IMO, of course.
