Hello Calypso,
Very interesting. I enjoyed the parallels.
I also want to add that I don't *really hate* Hermione...I just found
her highly annoying in the first book. She does improve as the story
progresses, but she does revert with things like the Firebolt and the
ELF. However, I do secretly like her...I just don't like to admit it
;)

C> James Potter ~ Harry Potter

C> Similarities do not end there! They are (I'm just going to use
C> present tense even though James is dead, it makes it easier for me..)
C> both exceptionally good at Quidditch, James as a chaser and Harry as
C> a seeker and they have like enemies. Dumbledore himself said that the

C> Harry. We also can safely say Harry acts like his father as they are
C> both smart and good wizards but tend to be troublemakers and Sirius
C> once said to Harry "You are truly your father's son".
C> Sirius Black ~ Ron Weasley
C> Physical descriptions certainly aren't similar but personality and

C> against the rivals Draco and Severus. They each seem to hold a deeper

C> Lily Evans ~ Ginny Weasley
C> I admit, the only similarity from Canon is physical appearance and
C> potential loves but I'm doing the best I can! Both Ginny and Lily
C> have red hair and fell for ceratin boys with untidy, black hair.
C> Hmm...and both of their names end in 'Y' ^_^..Sorry, couldn't resist
C> that one.
C> Severus Snape ~ Draco Malfoy
C> Both Draco and Severus seem to be the bad guy from Slytherin but I
C> believe they are both deeper than that. They are both rivals of a
C> Potter and jealous of their respected enemy's Quidditch talent. I
C> assume Severus acted like how Draco does now but he has reformed,
C> even if he *does* act mean to Harry. This leads me to believe that
C> this is perhaps a precedant for Draco's reformation and denoucement
C> of Lucius.
C> Remus Lupin ~ Hermione Granger
C> Both Remus and Hermione are the third party in the tight-knit
C> friendships. They are also both extremely intelligwnt (I assume Lupin
C> is judging by how he acts in PoA) and misunderstood. Lupin, of
C> course, is much more misunderstood for being a werewolf but Hermione
C> was at first too when no one saw her as more than a bossy, know-it-
C> all. They both have faced prejudice in he wizarding world; Remus for
C> being a werewolf and Hermione for being muggle-born. They both seem
C> to rise against the odds
C> Peter Pettigrew ~ Neville Longbottom
C> Ah, here it is at last; The Difference in the Generations. Peter
C> and Neville appear to be similar because they are both bumbling,
C> extremely unlucky and unskilled in magic and are both short, chubby
C> wizards. They also both follow the original group of friends, sort
C> of. *BUT*, we can't have history repeating itself, can we? What kind
C> of story would that make! The major difference is that Peter is a
C> complete coward and Neville is slowly being built up to show he has
C> courage. From SS Neville has proved time and again he has courage
C> however hard it is for him to muster it. He tried to take on both
C> Crabbe and Goyle when Ron was fighting with Draco, he stood up to the
C> Trio when he thought they were doing something wrong, he faced Snape
C> even if he *was* terrified, he took on a boggart before anyone
C> else....I do believe Neville will be an unlikely hero-type and will
C> prove to make a difference in the generation parallels.
C> And you have now reached the end of the message dear friends. If this
C> has been discussed before, apologies, I'm rather new to the list.
C> ~ Calypso
