 To me, that would rather suggest that he changes sides- the fact that Hagrid will die shouldn't have an impact on the interpretation, but if there was any possibility that he might change sides, that could also influence the way of playing him: Easier to manipulate, easier to lure into booby traps, or- worst assumption- a little less nice.
