While I'm not arguing that he won't die, I'm doubtful that you can use
this as an argument for your case. More likely, there are things that
he does or says in the first movie that foreshadow what is to come in
the next book and she wants to make sure he plays the scene the right
way. Either that or he and Snape are going to duel over which one of
them gets to marry McGonagall ;) I believe that the Time article said
that Hagrid and Snape received the special correspondence from JKR.

Perhaps it would be Lupin that dies in the next book. That would hurt
too...he's such a likeable chap. Maybe we should start SOFTWARE (Save
Our Favorite Teaching Werewolf And Relieve Everyone) just in case ;)
