A compendium.. on themes from three postings

The comment from Coltrane that if he told an interviewer what was to
happen to Hagrid he would 'have to kill you'.. (Message 28759) That
isn't to me a clue as to what happens to Hagrid. The expression 'If I
told you I'd have to kill you' is a bit of a catchphrase at the
moment. Turned up in 'Band of Brothers' Episode One actually.. and
elsewhere. Probably from Coltrane no more significant that if he had
said 'you are the weakest link...'.

Its a reference to extremely sensitive intelligence work. Off topic,
I was told this in all seriousness in real life a couple of weeks
ago, by someone who had had in the past deep intelligence clearance
in the US Navy and said he could tell me what kind of special
operation was planend for Afghanistan exterpolating from his
experience but after he told me he would have to kill me...

Back on topic - how Harrys schooling is paid for is something we just
dont know. (Message 28777). Since we see this life from Harry's POV
its quite believable that the question of fees or whatever hasn't
occured to him at that age, and so we dont get any reliable
information on this theme, nor good information as to who pays for
his first broom. Speculation on a bursary fund set up my his parents
in advance would be quite off-Canon but... something like this could
be on the background and Ill get on with the story unworried (mostly)
until money gets directly important for the storyline, or my
curiosity gets the better of me...

Now on Libbys summary (and great versifying by the way!)

Harrys POV is enough to explain the portrayal of Madame Pince...
(Question 2> She may or may not develop something more later...

Chess (Question 3)
We know nothing about who Ron had to socialise with as a child. How I
read the Chess skill though is an indication that he had somebody or
a few people to share interest with. Thats good. Still not
distinctive enough to set him apart form ALL the rest of his family
though...

Dumbledore and socks. When I first read the comment about seeing
socks in the mirror I thought two things... a brush off ('dont ask
impertinent questions') and a possible wishful sigh, ('if only my
worst problem was 'not getting enough socks')... Having seen what
happens in CoS Im not so sure any more... socks could shake the world
yet.
