At the time of parents wedding, how could Black have
possibly "realized" he was facing time in Azkaban, even if he were
already planning something? And he certainly wouldn't have realized
that it would only be 12 years, or that he would become
unrecognizable, or that he would get caught for something he hadn't
yet done.

Not a Flint, in my book. A literary device. Obviously Sirius couldn't
possibly have known what was in store for him in the future. The
question is rhetorical and meant for emphasis. It reminds us that
this handsome and happy-looking man is facing a dreadful future. It
also serves to point up the contrast between Sirius now and Sirius
then. It's a commonly used literary device. Also, remember this is
all Harry's third-person-limited point of view. The comment is meant
to emphasize the contrast between the pictured Sirius and what Harry
knows to be true about Sirius. I thought it was nciely done, actually.
